Our Story
KAEDE is run and owned by designer Karalena Davis. When the name “Karalena” was passed down from her Danish family, it gained a new American spelling for the California native, but kept its original Danish pronunciation. A play on the spelling of her name, KAEDE also translates to “chain” in Danish, a poetic link to her lineage. Each vintage KAEDE piece is unique, in history if not in appearance. Taking on another life with each new wearer, what’s old becomes new and what’s been forgotten becomes beloved. KAEDE is fine and semi-precious jewelry for the modern woman who believes each link is to be treasured.
– Our Pieces –
Quality – Each KAEDE piece has lived a previous life. Some have barely left the box, while others have formed a natural patina over the years. Highly coveted by many, patina takes time to form and is considered a beautiful sign of age. However, if desired, on many pieces patina can be polished away to reveal the piece’s original shine. All items are in great vintage condition, but due to the nature of vintage, there may be some subtle signs of wear.
Sterling – Standard sterling silver has a minimum millesimal fineness of 925, or 92.5%. The word sterling originates from the late Old English steorling, meaning “with (or like) a "little star".
Gold filled VS. Gold plate – Gold filled jewelry has 100x more gold alloy than gold plated. Because this layer is so much thicker, it means gold-filled jewelry lasts longer and stands up to more wear. Gold fill is as close to solid gold as one can get before making the jump! Gold plate is the most accessible option if you are looking to spend less.
